She has everything that she desires. A luxurious life, a beautiful face, a flawless figure, and boundless crisp notes. These are all anyone can ever dream of possessing, yet, she is malcontented. Why? The only thing that is missing from her impeccable life is love. True love. The countless boyfriends that she had were all just being superficial. They never loved her. Sweet nothings by their mouths were just to melt that heart of hers but somehow, she was never moved by them. She knew those were fraudulent. Those were just plain words that didn't come from their hearts. She wished that even if it has to take everything from her just to have a taste of true love, it would be worth it.
That very night, she was having her normal walks along the barren sidewalk under the star studded night sky which was so authentically beautiful, accompanied by that crescent moon. She was carrying that frown on her face as she took small delicate steps. A man was walking towards her and somehow, he was able to read her expressions. Just then, she stopped. He stopped too. They just gazed into each other's twinkling eyes and the man spoke in a coarse voice, "Lady, I see that you are troubled over something." She nodded in dismay and they settled down on a nearby bench under one of the street lights and started a little chat. They have agreed to meet up at this time every night to have a talk.
Eventually, she fell in love with him. It was such an ecstatic feeling and every time he leans a little closer to her, her heart leaps a little. A passerby was staring at her, and then at him. Somehow, that passerby had a look of trauma and hurried off. She didn't understand why, but didn't care either.
One night, she was sitting beside him again. Another passerby was staring at her, then asked, "Who are you talking to, Miss?" Her face was flushed red as she answered, "Well, umm. He's my friend." That enthralled passerby exclaimed, "But there's nobody beside you!" This sentence traumatized her and just then, the image of the man beside her disintegrated.
So, it was just an illusion. An illusion of something that she wanted so much. So much that she couldn't get it.
