If there wasn't British intervention, and the dumb British would just gladly stick to their non-intervention policy, Pangkor Engagement would not be signed.
And if the Pangkor Engagement wasn't signed, the Residential System wouldn't have existed.
If the Residential System didn't exist, Birch wouldn't be murdered and Hugh Low wouldn't take over and change Perak into one of the richest states in Malaya.
So, there wouldn't be need for us to study history!

Okay, I'm thinking a little too much.
Maybe I should just go back time and change everything?
